HOTEL FLATEY

WEST

Spend a day in tranquil Isle Flatey

This wonderful boutique hotel is the only hotel on the small, quaint and quiet island of Flatey on Breidafjordur Bay. The hotel is open in the summer-time and is a pleasant and short sail from Stykkisholmur village. It is situated in the center of the old, tiny village, few minutes’ walk from the dock. No cars are allowed which only adds to the charm of the island and allows the old way of life to be preserved. If you like to spend a night where it feels time stands still, Flatey is the place.

The hotel, along with the other buildings in the old village are timber structures and have been restored in their original style. The rooms are welcoming, cozy, have a traditional yet fresh style and the view from the rooms is unbelievably charming. The rooms have shared bathroom facilities, three for the nine rooms (because of short water supply on the island). This hasn’t been a problem with any of our guests since everything is kept so clean and neat.

WORDS FROM A GUEST:

“It was like stepping back in time. Staff was great and accommodations were charming. Great experience. Amazing scenery and bird life. Off the beaten path (if there is such a thing in Iceland). Chef in the hotel was very good.”
