In a far North-East corner of Iceland is a place away from the tourist routes, Borgarfjördur eystri (by the way, the whole Eastern region is the road less travelled by tourists). This is a wonderful region, both with high and impressive mountains like Dyrfjöll where you find the majestic Stórurd trail and the unspoiled Arctic coastline, with the best spot in Iceland for seeing the friendly puffins.

Blábjörg is by far the best place to choose when visiting this region. True the rooms we book do not come from a large category so we always have to check availability well in advance. But those spacious and nice studio apartments facing the ocean and the fine eatery on the premises are well worth the trip. The on-site spa overlooking the fjord is perfect for unwinding after a day spent exploring this pearl of East-Iceland.
