TOWARDS THE MYSTICAL SNÆFELLSJÖKULL GLACIER
Breathtaking coastal landscapes and the enigmatic glacier
This is a very complete and comprehensive day tour that has so much to offer. You will be close to the seaside most of the time so you’ll see a lot of beautiful volcanic rock formations, basaltic columns in particular at Arnarstapi and Hellnar. Perhaps you might catch some seals basking in the sun, see a black stone beach and a white sand beach (a rarity in Iceland), attractive little villages, impressive lava fields, and of course the enigmatic glacier of Snæfellsjökull.
The way out to Snæfellsnes lies to Stykkishólmur village by Breiðafjörður bay, with its nice old houses and a picturesque harbour nestling below the Stykkið cape.
There are multiple chances of nice walks like between the villages Hellnar and Arnarstapi andplaces to see like Svalþúfa sea stacks andDjúpalónssandur beach.
“This is the most impressive coastal drive I’ve ever done”
