No Mosquitos in Iceland

You don’t have to worry about nasty mosquito bites in Iceland.

How many good reason do you have to come to Iceland? Well, you can add this one to the list: Iceland has no mosquitos! All the neighbouring countries have them and they can for instance be pretty beastly in Greenland, of all places. So how come? Apparently something in the environment makes them stay away. The most likely explanation can be found in the nocturnal freezes that occur every spring when the larvae is emerging, creating conditions that may be too unstable for the insects.  So feel lucky in Iceland, staying at the cross-roads of the Arctic climate and the mild currents of the Gulf Stream and enjoy cool summer days, majestic landscapes, without getting a single insect’s bite.
